In the Nursery class we focus strongly on 3 prime areas; Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. These reflect the skills and capacities children need to learn effectively.

We consider play to be essential for children´s development, building their confidence as they learn to explore, think about problems and relate to others. Children in the Nursery area have exclusive use of their own playarea with a variety of age suitable toys and games.

We aim to respond to each child’s needs through their interests, guiding their development through warm, positive interaction, both with their peers and with their classroom teacher.

In the Reception class we try to create a lively stimulating atmosphere, using a variety of media in Art and Craft work in order to encourage and develop language and numeracy skills. We choose a topic each half-term and work on this to include the different aspects of the curriculum.

We also try to encourage the children to have healthy eating habits and to become more independent and responsible in class.

We stress the importance of kindness and tolerance in the children´s developing relationships with their peers.
