Welcome to our website and thank you for the interest in our distinctively small school with a real family atmosphere.
We are one of the oldest British curriculum schools in the whole of Spain, being founded in 1966, and the values and ethos have changed little in almost fifty years. Kensington School follows a ‘pure’ British curriculum and is able to dedicate all of its curriculum time to subjects within the National Curriculum for England and Wales. We remain very much a family run school, with the founder´s sons – all of whom were educated at Kensington – now ensuring we continue to thrive as a happy, purposeful and dynamic community.
We are fully authorised and regularly visited by Her Majesty´s Inspectorate. Indeed we were very honoured that our splendid purpose-built school building was officially opened by HM Queen Elizabeth II herself.
Although we are academically non-selective, we achieve remarkable examination results at both GCSE and Advanced Level. This is due to the dedication of our teachers, many of whom have spent their careers here and the small class sizes which allow pupils of all abilities to develop their full potential. Apart from Spanish and French, all lessons are taught in English. Clearly, fluency in English is important to access the curriculum so we provide support for those needing additional help to improve their linguistic capacity.
Our student body is very international and it is a joy to see children from around the world coming together each day to take advantage of everything Kensington School has to offer. For a Headmaster, there is nothing more satisfying than to see happy youngsters enjoying their school days. Children only get one education so we have a responsibility to ensure that our pupils get the very best start in life.We offer a quality education from Nursery to ‘A’ Levels on one site. The transition from Primary to Secondary is therefore seamless with no disruption to a child´s education.
Our students gain access to prestigious universities all around the world with the majority reading for degrees in the United Kingdom. A recent change in the Spanish law now enables those with British Advanced Levels easy and direct access to local universities.
At Kensington School our pupils feel relaxed, secure and valued. They are prepared for the ever changing demands of our modern global society. We hope you find our site informative, but there is really only one way to discover if we are the school for your child – come and visit us!
We look forward to showing you why we are so proud of our Kensington family.
Mr. Michael Bayes
