22 MAY 2017 Ultimate Tournament BEACH
Ultimate tournament BEACH
On Saturday 20th May, we played an ultimate Frisbee tournament on a beach called MARBELLA. There were Marco, Oskar, Sofia N, Sofia J, Mehmet, Marta, Ali and Lydia. We won all the matches, the scores were the following:
Kensington school 5 3 Balandrau S14
Kensington school 6 1 Mas BoaDisc
Kensington School 6 2 Vallès UP
In my own opinion, I had a lot of fun playing with my friends, and I also learned more rules and strategies to improve my skills. After each match we would play a spirit game with the other team and they were all very nice to us. When we weren’t playing the matches we would go into the water and come out refreshed. After all the matches had ended, the person that organized the tournament would read out the results. I had a wonderful day.
14 MAY 2017 Lower 6th trip to Lyon
Year 12 Trip to Lyon.
The French department took year 12 on a linguistic, cultural and gastronomic trip to Lyon for 4 days.
Accommodation was in a youth hostel right in the middle of the old city. It was great to see how much they spoke French and how much they enjoyed all the activities. Students’ enjoyed a walk around the old cobbled streets and visited the Basilique de la Fourvière at the top of the hill, with a fantastic view of Lyon.
On an organised cycle tour with a French guide, we discovered the history of the old town and visited the amazing parc de la Tête d´or. They met nice French people who helped them with their prepared survey about different topics and they had fun doing a treasure hunt in the typical secret passages of the Traboules.
We also visited Le Petit Musée de Guignol, the museum des frères Lumières and the brand new museum des Confluences. But most of all they enjoyed the food; from the onion soup to the porc trotters, the quenelles de brochet and the Fondant au chocolat in the typical Lyon restaurants called Les Bouchons as well as the pains au chocolat and the delicious Brioche aux pralines.
I as their French teacher, enjoyed their company and vitality and wanting to try everything very much. All in all, a great success.
12 MAY 2017 Outdoor Learning Club
This week in outdoor learning club we worked together to make both a Fairy Land and Dinosaur Land. The children initially worked on their own to think of a land they would like to make and planned it in their Outdoor Learning Diaries. They then worked together to create them using lots of different materials. They were very excited and wanted to share them with you.
I hope you enjoy the photos!
11 MAY 2017 Ultimate Frisbee Match
On the 11th of May 2017, a very unusual event took place in Xaloc school.
The event was a friendly match against Xaloc in order to prepare for the upcoming match on the beach on the 20th of May 2017, in Mar Bella.
The matches started at 6pm, but before both schools did some practicing, especially leading passes.
Xaloc’s team had a big advantage in height and age, but that didn’t stop Kensington from winning with a big difference.
The end score was 8 – 4 to Kensington. Sofia J (F1), Sofia N (F1), Mehmet (F1), Lydia (F1), Oscar (F2) and Marta (F3) participated in the match.
In my opinion both teams learned something, which will help the in the match. We learned to defend properly and some throwing tactics. The most important was the team spirit, which was very good because none of the teams called for a foul or got injured. Also the fact that everybody had fun made it perfect.
